FAQ

What do you do in Key Club? Do you really make keys?

Key Club is a community service based club where members are encouraged to rack up as many hours as possible throughout the term. At these community service events held by both individual clubs and the division, members are able to meet other Key Clubbers and build long-lasting relationships with those who share the same passion of service with them. About half-way through the term, all of the divisions get together at an event called "Fall Rally" held at Six Flags where divisions celebrate all of the money they raised for PTP.

What are preferred charities?

The Key Club International (KCI) has 3 beneficial service partners: Children's Miracle Network, UNICEF, and March of Dimes.

Children's Miracle Network: "Children's Miracle Network (CMN) is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit hospitalized kids and increases awareness of its member hospitals. All CMN contributions directly benefit hospitals, helping to purchase up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct life-saving research, implement outreach programs, and provide healthcare for children whose parents can't afford to pay." - www.keyclub.org

UNICEF: UNICEF is one of the most recognizable children's organization across the world. Not only do they commit and work with Key Club International (KCI), but also with many other non-governmental organizations.

March of Dimes: Every day 1 in 8 babies born in the U.S. arrives too soon. Premature birth can happen to any pregnant woman, and no one knows why. It is a serious, common and costly problem. Key Club members are helping by raising thousands of dollars annually for the March of Dimes Youth Program to help prevent prematurity.

Why should I join Key Club?

Joining Key Club is a fun and easy way to give back to the community. Key Club also looks great on college applications as it is a part of Kiwanis International. Not only will you be gaining a plethora of community service hours, but you will also gain important life-skills in the process. At Officer Training Conferences held by the division, both members and officers have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on Key Club and learn how to serve as an effective leader within the community and beyond.

Why is there a membership fee?

If you are dues paid Key Club member, you can qualify for scholarships, attend DCON, run for officer positions, and it comes with a pretty cool member label pin. It's important to be a dues paid member because it grants more opportunities to get more involved with the Kiwanis family.
